Though I usually photograph weddings and family portraits, from time to time I get the opportunity to work with a model on something a little different. Last weekend I was asked by Jenna to work with her to create some new headshots for her portfolio.
We spent a little time talking about some of the many options we had and very quickly decided to go for a low-key look, which was quite different to most of the other photos in her portfolio. Low-key is where the colours in the photo are predominantly dark, or even black, contrasting nicely with her fair skin.
I decided to keep everything else simple. Just one light was used for most of the shots and the only props were a chair and a dark brown throw. With no distractions, Jenna was the focus of every shot and she made the most of it with some wonderful poses.
It was a real pleasure to work with Jenna, she was creative and worked very hard throughout the shoot. I am sure she will have a very successful modelling career!

Today I thought I would share with you one of my favourite photographs from Charlotte and Ben's wedding.
It was a bitterly cold day, coming as it did between two weeks of heavy snow. Such a shame there was no snow left on the ground that day, I think it would have really added to the photographs and it couldn't possibly have made it any colder!
This photo was taken from within the Chancel with Charlotte and Ben standing in front of the archway into the South Chapel. You can just see the Southampton Monument, which dominates the Chapel, behind them.
After taking the larger group photos in the grounds, I took the happy couple and a few of their closest friends and relatives back inside St. Peters to warm up a little and get some images, including this one, within this wonderful old church. Records show that the oldest parts of the church, which now form the bottom of the tower, date from 680AD.
I wonder how many other young couples have started their lives together here.

Well, 2011 is here and I thought I would start the new year off with a new blog. I have been meaning to do this for quite some time, but somehow I just never got around to it - until now.
The main purpose of this blog is to let you all know what I am getting up to. It will give me a chance to share with you some of my latest photos and the stories that go along with them.
Since 2010 was a great year, I am really looking forward to finding out what this year will bring. I hope you will enjoy coming along for the ride with me.
